Trademark Class in India
In India, trademarks are classified according to the Nice Classification (NCL) system, which is an international system used to categorize goods and services for trademark registration. There are 45 classes in total under this system:
Goods
Class 1: Chemicals used in industry, science, and agriculture, including those for the manufacture of products in other classes.
Class 2: Paints, varnishes, lacquers, preservatives against rust and against deterioration of wood, coloring matters, dyestuffs, inks.
Class 3: Cleaning preparations, cosmetics, perfumery, bleaching preparations, and other substances for laundry use.
Class 4: Industrial oils and greases, lubricants, dust absorbing, wetting, and binding compositions, fuels (including motor spirit) and illuminants.
Class 5: Pharmaceutical, veterinary, and sanitary preparations; dietetic food and substances adapted for medical use; baby food; dietary supplements for humans and animals.
Class 6: Common metals and their alloys, metal building materials, transportable buildings of metal, and small hardware items.
Class 7: Machines and machine tools; motors and engines (except for land vehicles); machine coupling and transmission components.
Class 8: Hand tools and implements (hand-operated); cutlery; side arms; razors.
Class 9: Scientific, photographic, cinematographic, and optical apparatus; measuring instruments, computers, software, and telecommunications equipment.
Class 10: Surgical, medical, dental, and veterinary instruments and apparatus; artificial limbs, eyes, and teeth; orthopedic articles.
Class 11: Apparatus for lighting, heating, steam generating, cooking, refrigerating, drying, ventilating, water supply, and sanitary purposes.
Class 12: Vehicles and apparatus for locomotion by land, air, or water.
Class 13: Firearms; ammunition and projectiles; explosives; fireworks.
Class 14: Precious metals and their alloys, jewelry, precious stones, horological and chronometric instruments.
Class 15: Musical instruments.
Class 16: Paper, cardboard, printed matter, bookbinding materials, photographs, stationery, adhesives for stationery or household purposes, and office requisites.
Class 17: Rubber, gutta-percha, gum, asbestos, mica, and goods made from these materials; plastics in extruded form for use in manufacture.
Class 18: Leather and imitations of leather, animal skins, hides, trunks, and traveling bags.
Class 19: Building materials (non-metallic), rigid pipes (non-metallic) for building, asphalt, pitch, bitumen.
Class 20: Furniture, mirrors, picture frames, goods made of wood, cork, cane, wicker, horn, bone, ivory, whalebone, shell, amber, mother-of-pearl, meerschaum.
Class 21: Household or kitchen utensils, cookware, combs, sponges, brushes (except paintbrushes), glassware, porcelain.
Class 22: Ropes, string, nets, tents, awnings, tarpaulins, sails, sacks for transportation or storage of materials.
Class 23: Yarns and threads for textile use.
Class 24: Textiles and textile goods, bed and table covers, household linen.
Class 25: Clothing, footwear, headgear.
Class 26: Lace, embroidery, ribbons, braid, buttons, hooks, eyes, pins, needles, artificial flowers.
